Dulwich Houses SE21
The building form, inspired by the gullwing doors of the Mercedes 300SL, gives the two attached houses the appearance of being a single dwelling. This device served to unlock the potential of the site as the planners preferred to give the appearance of a single house on the land overlooking Dulwich Park.
The award- winning new build pair of connected houses constructed on a redeveloped brownfield site surrounded by mature trees and substantial gardens. A key feature of each house is the triple storey atrium crossed by bridges that allow clear views of the gardens through the full depth of the houses.
The palette of materials employed is simple and honest; long slim Staffordshire Blue engineering bricks, natural oiled oak doors and panelling, frameless glass and silvered metal sheets.
We collaborated on this project with Stephen Marshall Architects .
